I have used allakhazaam since the US open beta and what I realy miss on this guide page is a rogue guide. So now that I have a lvl 49 night elf rogue I thought I??d write one to those who would want to know a few thing about the class. (for reference here is my char: http://wow.allakhazam.com/profile.html?83633)
First of all, we are most probably the most distrustet and despised class of the game, one reason is that some rogue guys do act like thieves (we??re not!!!!) you can hear the complaints all over the place. Another constant problem is PvP and the effectiveness of the class... Yeah we can dish out huge chunks of damage and we can defeat most classes in PvP (as most classes if played right can defeat us in PvP, so it realy comes down to luck and skill), and we can kill monsters in 15 secs... but guys for that we have no armor wow gold(I wear some of the best stuff available and still I only have 1.8K armor...), we have significantly less health than a warrior and if we take damage then we take a lot, we cannot solo elite mobs of the same or 1 lvl higher than us(or we can but its a flustrating struggle), and after lvl 45 you realy start to have problems with instances too... but I??ll get back to that later.
When you make your char keep in mind that some people will distrust you so much that they??ll kick you out of parties when they realise you??re a rogue (it happened to me even though I play as friendly and as politely as possible. But most of the time after I??ve gone into an instance or some heavy questing with an unknown group at least 2-3 people from the party wants to add me as a friend).
So lets get down to business.
Thx to stealth and some mob controll skills (sap, blade flurry etc.) you can solo well(take a priest with you even one 10 lvls lower then you and you??re invincible), until it comes to fighting high health elites, but with cheap shot, kidney shot and ripose you can manage. Use your abilities well, and acording to the situation, stun is always welcome, against casters kick is neat and handy. Using only evis and ss is not going to cut it... maybe if you??re soling it??s ok, but when in a party... use all your skills, help the casters, and I know its hard but try not to start every fight ?? (if you do you??ll get significantly more aggro).cheap wow gold
Yeah aggro management... faint is a must use skill, you just won??t be able to take the damage coming from 2-3 elites and because of your relatively low healt, the healer will have a hard time with you.
Pick the pocket of every possible creature... don??t leave one out... and then kill them! DO NOT LEAVE A PICKPOCKETED CREATURE ALIVE IT??S RUDE, UNETHICAL AND VERY UNPLEASANT!!!!!!!! After lvl 35 creatures tend to have sturdy and whatever lockboxes as loot, they can contain some sweet jewels, amulets and rings.
Help your team in thight places, for exmaple you have a mob of 3 elites headed your way... sap one and lure the other two out to your team... its a significantly easyer fight.
Use your poisons... always... cripling is a must it makes life much easier since those bastartd mobs that tend to run away in fear and pull 10 others your way will be out of luck. Instant poison gives you a nice dam bonus...
Talent builds. Well now all this comes down to is preference. Do you like to see huge crit numbers at the begining of the fight and end them a bit slower? Or do you want to last longer, an make every fight of your team 15 secs shorter?
If you want 1500+ opening crits daggers and ambush is your friend. Assasination (up till maxed seal fate is a must... poisons, vigor, imp slice and dice and imp. Kidney shot, imp expose armor gets 0 points... with this buld they??re not worth it, also you might want to consider not puting points into murder )... the rest goes max. From here you shoud put your points into subtlety. Master of deception, oportunity and imp ambush is a must... That??s a total of 41 talent points, I??d say that inintiative should get 5 points, its a neat thing to get an extra compo point. The remaining 5 should go into combat.
This would be my prefered build, but most guys go with imp gouge and imp backstab too... However I find it dull to use gouge get around the enemy backstab him, rense and repeat... its just not my stile.
The only problem with this build is that mid fight you just wont do enough damage, thx to the low dam rates of daggers (Oh BTW why on earth is strength the main req for attack power with daggers??? Its ok that I need a lot of str to wield a 3 foot bum sword... but for a small paper knife...???). DPS... forget it! Its the bigest prank of the game, a dagger that has 40 dps sounds sweet, but you forget that you get 40 DPS because its attack speed is only 1.5-1.7 it??s real dam ratio is only aroung 30-50 wich means that your normal hits will only make half the dam than that of a sword, and that can hurt!!!
Knowing this and that I can get some nice skills with combat, I respeced. With combat I last a lot longer, and I have a lot of party friendly abilities. Your weapon of choice should be swords (this is fun, you can even train in fist weapons but, you cannot train into axes... who on earth with a right mind would specialise into throwing weapons with a mele char??? I want axes! ??). Lightning reflexes, deflection, precision, dual wield spec., repose, blade flurry, adrenaline rush, sword spec, aggression all go max the rest goes into assasination (I??m still debating over imp. Slice and dice... I use it irregulary but I figure with this you can boost your DPS nicely and also get faster battles). There is a nice little combo here... I call it the rogue fury, use adrenaline rush and blade flurry together... http://nevl.tar.hu/2.jpg (I took this shot in maraudon a few days ago... It shows you what this combo can do (top left corner DPS counter), and also what its consequence is... i.e. death usualy, you just generalte too much aggro, I over aggroed my lvl 58 warrior and hunter friends... we where fighting a group of 3 elites all of them turned on me, I also took at least half the life of the 2 mobs. Not to mention that I was only using a sword of serenity).
Blade flury in itself can produce some nice damage... http://nevl.tar.hu/1.jpg
Ripose... the best... with my 10% parry chance I can hardly remember a fight where I could not use this skill... disarm + extra 150% weapon dam(meaning the mob will only do half he??s normal damage for 6 secs, invaluable time)... sweet.
Some advice on PvP, unless you??re in battlegrounds don??t start with mages... a mage with half he??s mind intact can and will kill you fast and hard. Other caster tipes should prove a bit more easy but take care fear is bad!!! Warriors... luck is all that this is about... stun them... stun them to death... otherwise you??re as good as dead. This also goes for paladins, if you don??t he??ll outlast you. As for other classes... well I don??t know these are the ones I duelled with so far.
